Itinerary
Nihao! Welcome to Beijing, the capital city of China! Upon your arrival at the airport/train station in Beijing, the driver will meet and greet you at the exit, and then escort you to the well-selected hotel in downtown Beijing. The rest of the day is free on your own so you can have a good rest for the jet lag or explore by yourself around your hotel.
After breakfast, you will visit the world-famous Tiananmen Square. Located on the central axis of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is the largest city center square in the world. It has an important position in Chinese history and has witnessed countless major historical events. Here you can see the majestic Tiananmen Tower and learn about the long-standing Chinese culture.
After that, cross the square and visit the Beijing Palace Museum. The Forbidden City, also known as the Forbidden City, is located in the center of the central axis of Beijing. It was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is also the largest and most complete Forbidden City wooden structure palace complex in the world. Here you can visit important palaces along the central axis, admire its magnificent and exquisite ancient palace buildings, and follow the guide’s explanation to learn more about the historical stories of the Forbidden City. After the end, you can also go to the nearby Jingshan Park (about 15 minutes walk) to overlook the panoramic view of the Forbidden City and the magnificent scenery of Beijing.
In the afternoon, you will take a bus to visit the famous royal garden – the Summer Palace. The Summer Palace is the largest and most well-preserved royal garden in China. It is also one of the four famous gardens in China and is known as the Royal Garden Museum. The garden has beautiful scenery, pavilions, lakes, bridges and other beautiful scenery.
Tips: The Forbidden City in Beijing will be closed on Mondays. If it is Monday, the tour order will be changed with the 3rd day itinerary.
After breakfast, you will drive 73 kilometers (about 1.5~2 hours) to visit Mutianyu Great Wall, one of the seven wonders of the world. [Mutianyu Great Wall] is the longest and best restored Great Wall of China, and is known as “Mutianyu is the only one in the Great Wall”. You can take the cable car to the 14th watchtower, and then walk westward. Along the way, you can enjoy the magnificent mountains and the winding and majestic scenery of the Great Wall. Then you will reach the highest point, the 20th watchtower, and complete the Great Wall tour.
After visiting the Great Wall, return to the center of Beijing, and take a look at the [Bird’s Nest] (Beijing National Sports Center) and [Water Cube] (Beijing National Aquatics Center) buildings, and take photos with them. Then return to the hotel and have a good rest.
Today our driver will take you to Beijing Railway Station and take the high-speed rail to Shanghai, which takes about 4.5 to 5.5 hours.
After arriving at Shanghai Railway Station, our staff will greet you at the exit of the railway station and take you to the hotel in downtown Shanghai to check in and rest. You can move freely afterwards, rest in the hotel, or go shopping around.
After breakfast, you will go to the Lujiazui business district in Pudong, Shanghai, to visit the tallest building in Shanghai and even in China – [Shanghai Tower]. Here, you will take the world’s fastest sightseeing elevator (73.8 km/h) directly to the “Shanghai Top Observation Hall” on the 118th floor, 546 meters above the ground, and enjoy the magnificent Shanghai skyline and city panorama with 360° no dead angle, overlooking the famous buildings around. If you are interested, you can also mail a special blessing from the clouds to your family and friends in this world’s highest post office – Shanghai Top Sky Post Office.
Afterwards, go to [Shanghai Museum], one of the “four major museums in China”, to appreciate various exquisite traditional precious cultural relics and gain an in-depth understanding of China’s long and profound history and culture. The Shanghai Museum is known as “half of the cultural relics world”. The overall building is round on the top and square on the bottom, which fits the ancient Chinese saying of “the sky is round and the earth is square”. The museum houses more than 1.02 million cultural relics, covering the most precious artworks in China’s 5,000-year history of civilization. Among them, the treasures of the Shanghai Museum are worth seeing: the bronze ware with a history of about 3,000 years – Da Ke Ding, the ancient musical instrument of the Western Zhou Dynasty – Jin Hou Su Zhong, the relic of Shang Yang’s reform – Shang Yang Fang Sheng, and the Spring and Autumn bronze ware with 30+ aquatic animals carved – Zi Zhong Jiang Pan.
Afterwards, go to [Yu Garden], known as the “Crown of Famous Gardens in the Southeast”, to enjoy the scenery of classical gardens in Jiangnan, China. Yu Garden was built in the 38th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1559 AD), with a history of more than 460 years. It was originally a private garden built by Pan Yunduan, the governor of Sichuan in the Ming Dynasty, for his father to spend his old age. Strolling along the winding paths of Yu Garden, you can appreciate China’s exquisite garden layout, exquisite classical architecture, exquisite brick carvings, stone carvings, clay sculptures and wood carvings. Yu Garden Mall near Yu Garden is a very lively neighborhood where you can taste the most authentic Shanghai cuisine or visit various traditional Chinese handicraft shops.
Afterwards, you can walk to the Bund along Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, which is known as the “No. 1 Commercial Street in China”. The whole journey is about 2 kilometers. Along the way, you can appreciate the architectural style of Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s, and you can also visit various century-old brand stores. The Bund is located on the west bank of the Huangpu River. It is one of Shanghai’s iconic attractions and is known as the “International Architecture Expo Group”. It brings together 52 exotic buildings with different styles, such as the Shanghai Club, Peace Hotel, HSBC Bank, etc. Walking into it, it seems to have entered the golden age of the former Oriental Wall Street. Standing by the river, you can also overlook landmark buildings such as the Shanghai Tower, Oriental Pearl Tower, Jinmao Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center.
Tips: The Shanghai Museum and Yu Garden are closed on Mondays. You can visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center or Shanghai City God Temple or the French Concession instead; during the peak season, the Shanghai Museum People’s Square will be replaced by the Shanghai Museum East Hall.
