May to October is the most beautiful season in Tibet, but for foreign friends and Taiwanese compatriots who plan to visit Tibet, traveling to Tibet is not as simple as just leaving. According to the regulations of the National Tourism Administration, foreign tourists, Taiwanese compatriots and overseas Chinese need to apply for a Tibet Entry Permit before they can travel to Tibet.
How to apply for Tibet entry letter?
Individual tourists are not allowed to apply for a Tibet entry permit. They need to apply through a local travel agency in Tibet that is qualified to receive foreign guests. They must confirm with the travel agency the cities and transportation methods entering and leaving Tibet, itinerary, travel time to Tibet, scenic spots, number of tourists, etc.

Hold a mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents (without a residence permit for Taiwan residents) + certificate (work certificate)

✅Where can foreigners/Taiwanese go?
⭕️You can go to Potala Palace, Yamdrok Yumcuo, Shigatse, Namtso, Mount Everest, Kailash, Basongtso and other places
❌️You cannot go to places like the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon, Suosong Village, Xincuo, and Medog
Hold a passport + travel permit (L visa)
Hold a passport + visa + certificate (corresponding certificates. If you are visiting relatives, you can issue a certificate at the neighborhood committee where your relatives live, or if you work, you can issue a work certificate)
👉Taiwan compatriots:
Hold a mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents + a residence permit for Taiwan residents
Things to note before traveling:
If your visa is temporarily expired or has expired, you must provide relevant supporting documents for the replacement certificate when applying for a Tibet entry permit. If your passport is expired, you must get a new passport.
Taiwan compatriots aged 65 and above (inclusive) must provide an experience report, which must include relevant data on blood pressure and heart rate tests.
Foreign tourists cannot buy tickets on online platforms when entering Tibet. They must buy tickets at the airline counter.
If it involves border itineraries (Everest, Ngari), it must be applied for when applying for the Tibet Entry Permit.
